Vacation Synchronicity - Buddhist Monk/Boxer in Maine
I'm in Sanford, Maine for another few days, relaxing into lake culture, where you wave to a neighbor from your kayak and discuss the Red Sox with swimming children.
Pulling out a copy of PortCityLife from April 2008 from a wicker basket on the screened porch, I find an article by 28 year old Jaed Coffin about a recent art exhibition of George Bellows' boxing drawings at the Portland Museum of Art. Sorry I missed that! But Jaed, a former middleweight amateur boxer and author of "A Chant to Soothe Wild Elephants," a memoir about his experienes as a Buddhist monk, lives in Portland!
He's happy to be interviewed, so I'll be meeting him tonight. Therapist/boxer meets Buddhist monk/boxer. Vacation serendipity. I'm following the trail of bread crumbs; who knows where it will lead. This isn't work to me; it's joy.
